The Challenges of Shooting on a DSLR with a Still Lens

In the episode of B&H's HDSLR Educational Series found below, Shane Hurlbut goes over what you need to know about shooting video with a still lens. He says, "What are the challenges working with a still lens? Well, there is no way to actually focus the thing. There’s no autofocus on this baby. To be able to pull this off, you’re going to need your focus puller and you’re going to need to put a ring around your focus ring so you’re able to use manual follow focus devices and/or remote follow focus devices."

Portable Lighting with the Roscoe LitePad Kit

DP Shane Hurlbut sings the praises of the portable Roscoe LitePad kit, writing that it "knocked [him] out with its size, versatility, color and punch. This light is LED technology, but used in a very different way than all the other lights on the market. It requires no heat syncs like a LitePanel light and is 3/8 of an inch thick. The big difference is that it does not fire the LED directly at you. It fires them sideways onto a white source that becomes your light. This is a very big deal."
